Job Summary
We are looking for a 1st Officer who will be responsible for managing and overseeing all operational matters on board a vessel. The successful candidate will be an excellent leader and communicator, with proven experience in the maritime industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe navigation of the vessel and compliance with international maritime regulations
- Direct shipboard operations, including maintenance and inspection of engines, navigation equipment, safety systems, and communication systems
- Lead and manage the deck crew; monitor their performance and conduct routine drills and inspections
- Perform risk assessments and ensure the vessel and its crew are prepared for emergency situations
- Maintain inventory of supplies and materials on board, and prepare reports on cargo and vessel status
- Coordinate with the ship’s captain and other departments on the ship
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Science or equivalent experience
- Relevant qualifications and certifications as per STCW 95 requirements
- At least three years of experience in a similar role
- Proficient in all aspects of maritime operations
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to delegate effectively
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in physical conditions pertaining to a seagoing environment
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
